Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms: Are You Getting Enough Vitamin D?

1- Cancer

Having sufficient vitamin D level avoids the risk of various types of cancer including breast, prostate and colon cancer. Studies reveal that taking vitamin D rich food reduces the risk of cancer by 71%. A hormone called insulin-like growth factor (IGF) stimulates cancerous cell growth by inducing them to divide. Vitamin D tends to interfere with the actions of IGF.

Many drug companies are involved into development of certain vitamin D analogs as a treatment against breast cancer.

2- Osteoporosis

It’s vitamin D that absorbs calcium and phosphorus from the food you consume, and regulates the level of these substances in blood. Low levels of vitamin D leads to inadequate supply of calcium and phosphorus, resulting into brittle and deformed bones.

3- Heart Diseases

Study findings have demonstrated that vitamin D prevents cardiovascular diseases, including high blood pressure. People showing vitamin D deficiency symptoms are at two-times higher risk of becoming a victim of heart attack, high blood pressure and blood vessel inflammation, compared with those with high levels of sunshine vitamin. Restoring vitamin D levels significantly improves heart health.

4- Diabetes

Insufficient levels of Vitamin D can predispose you to diabetes. Its deficiency impairs the synthesis and secretion of insulin. Adequate intake of sunshine vitamin prevents onset of diabetes, and alleviates complications in those already suffering from it.
