Foods High in Vitamin K

Vitamin K is an essential vitamin required for healthy blood coagulation, in treating osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s, for protein modification and for protection against many cancers and heart disease. As there is no proof of any known toxicity from consuming large quantities of this vitamin, you can eat as much of it as you like to gain all the health benefits of eating healthy foods high in Vitamin K, which are set out below:

  1. Herbs

The majority of herbs are packed with many nutrients and vitamins and have long been associated with being used for a great variety of healing purposes. Other vitamin K sources include chilli powder, curry powder, paprika and cayenne pepper. These spices are a great way to add Vitamin K in your diet when used in tasty heart warming curries and soups.

This delicacy is great served steamed, to preserve the high level of vitamin K contained in this vegetable.

  1. Cabbage

The cabbage family is one of the food groups which is very high in vitamin K. They are excellent eaten raw or cooked, steamed or chopped for coleslaw and enjoyed on summer days.

Other foods high in vitamin K include prunes, sun dried tomatoes, soybeans, okra, celery, carrots, cloves, roasted cashew nuts and many of the delicious berry family, as well as figs and dates.
